With a thriving business, the pub decided to expand its offerings by creating The Stables, a versatile outdoor function area designed to host everything from live music nights to weddings.
As an outdoor wedding venue, The Stables needed to offer a space that was not only visually appealing but also robust enough to handle the heavy usage that comes with a busy, popular pub.
Project Objective:
The objective was to create a year-round outdoor space featuring a large decked area that could accommodate tables, live music performances, and a dance floor. Additionally, the area required integrated electricity to support various event needs, ensuring it was functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.
Scope of Work:
FMT Solutions worked closely with The Pear at Parley from the outset, providing recommendations and advice to ensure the decking met all the venue's needs. As this area was set to become a prime location for weddings and other events, the decking needed to be both stunning and highly functional. Together, we developed a design that would extend their outdoor area while maintaining the rustic charm of the venue.
Materials Used:
The decking at The Pear features high-quality, clean wood, carefully chosen for its durability and aesthetic appeal. We strategically flipped the boards to alternate between smooth and ribbed sides, providing both excellent drainage and a visually striking finish. The result is a deck that not only looks fantastic but is also built to withstand heavy use.
Timeline:
The design phase took a couple of weeks as we worked to develop a concept that integrated seamlessly with the existing marquee supports. Once the design was finalized and approved, the build process was completed in just a few days, ensuring that The Pear could quickly reopen their outdoor space for bookings.

Decking Projects
Initial Consultation:
The Pear at Parley had a clear vision for their new function area, which made the initial consultation straightforward. Our primary task during this phase was to take accurate measurements and develop plans that would work around the existing marquee supports, ensuring the new deck would fit perfectly within the space.
Planning & Design:
We collaborated closely with the team at The Pear during the design phase. With the measurements in hand and materials selected, we were able to quickly move from concept to reality, preparing the site for construction.
Execution:
A small team from FMT Solutions completed the decking installation in just three days, working efficiently to lay the deck and create a gravel area to provide additional uncovered seating. We also extended electricity to the marquee area, ensuring that the new function space was fully equipped for events. In total, the project took about a week, after which The Pear was ready to start hosting al fresco dining and events again.
Final Touches:
To finish the project, we glazed all the outdoor tables to protect them from the weather, ensuring they would last in the outdoor environment. With everything in place, The Pear was ready to host live music events under the marquee, where the new decking has become the centerpiece for dancing and celebrations, handling the foot traffic with ease and style.
